These past few days have been an adventure for Jarren. To fill you in about a week ago Jarren had started to complain of a tooth ache. I assumed that it was a cavity and since he will be seeing the dentist mid-June I would have it looked at then. Jarren has a pretty high pain tolerance and only mentioned the tooth ache a few times, So I was not aware how bad it really was. On Tuesday morning May 27 Jarren woke with a slightly swollen cheek. I knew then that he was showing signs of an abscess tooth. I called our dentist who's office is closed until June 3rd. I then called the on call doctor who prescribed Jarren an anti-biotic for the infection. The doctor told us to call and make an appointment for Wednesday May 28. Well the 28th was Jarren's Kindergarten field trip to the Zoo. My plan was to make the appointment in the afternoon when he got home. Boy, was I wrong. Wednesday morning Jarren woke up with his face double in size , eye and upper lip all swollen. I called the doctor and he advised that Jarren needed to be seen. Needless to say Jarren did not get to go on his field trip. He was very sad and we both cried about it. I promised him that once we got the tooth and infection taken care of that I would take him to the Zoo on Saturday.
to get the tooth out. He said that Once we saw the doctor he advise that the infection was so bad that he could not numb JarrenJarren needed an anti-biotic by IV before they could get to the tooth out. The Doctor called up to Primary Children's Hospital to advise what we would need once we got there. We sat in the ER for four hours waiting for a room. Once we were settled in the room the nurse got the IV started, which took three nurses to get the IV in. Shortly after that the hospital dentist came in and pulled the tooth. Jarren had to stay overnight to be sure he was responding to the meds and that the infection was clearing up. The concern was if not taken care of, it could have gone into the blood stream which would not have been good. Jarren was released from the hospital on Thursday 29. I am so glad that we live where there is a hospital for children. They really know how to make them smile and feel good under poor situations. The doctors and nurses said that they have not seen an abscess progress this fast or be as bad as Jarren's was. Jarren is doing very well now and will be going to the Zoo tomorrow. So stay tuned for that adventure. There are pictures below of Jarren in the hospital and of the next day at home.
Jarren right after getting the IV put in. Even though it took three nurses to put in the IV, Jarren was handling everything very well.
Jarren trying to open his mouth after getting the tooth pulled.
There is the tooth! You can not see it very well, but the doc said that it had a really big infection pocket on it. Jarren will need to go back to the dentist for a spacer since this tooth was not suppose to come out until about age 9.
Jarren still a little swollen , but doing much better. He was on his way out to school.
Here you can tell how much the swelling has come down. Since this picture was taken the swelling has come down even more. This is one experience Jarren will never forget. I know will not forget it!!

Heidi's Madness
As most of you know I have become addicted to the the Twilight book series by
Stephenie Meyer. Through my strange madness I found a group of women on line, Twilightmoms.com, where are able to talk about the books, up coming movie, and anything else that comes to mind. Well This past month Stephenie Meyer released her newest novel in titled
The Host ( which has nothing to do with the Twilight series) and with that her book tour.
So all of Twilightmoms in the Salt Lake area bought tickets and went to her book signing. Since this is something I have never done, I was feeling like a young teenage girl again. I had a great time and got to meet several of the Twilightmoms in person. Meeting these women was such a treat on top of meeting Stephenie Meyer.

(Stephenie Meyer signing a TM's book and then answering questions)
At the signing Stephenie talked about her book The Host, personalized our copies, and autographed two of the Twilight novels. After spending most of the day there I met up with other Twilightmoms at the local park where we had a BBQ to celebrate and mingle.

My sister Heather speaking with Stephenie. Then Heather and I sister bonding.

Pictures of us at the signing while waiting for Stephenie. Wow!! Look at the middle picture of all those Twilightmoms. We had the most fun!!!
Yay!! After all that I was starving!! Here we are at the BBQ enjoying the grub!!!
At the BBQ I got to hang with Lisa the site creator of Twilightmoms.com. She is so awesome!!!
This is me and one my new best friends Amie. We met through Twilightmoms and have speaking on line, and phone for the past several months never meeting since she lives Idaho. Where her husband is going to school at BYU Idaho. She is a really sincere person and probably a bigger Twilight nut then me. She knows every quote from all the Q&A's that Stephenie Meyer has done. She has two sweet little girls and I am glad that we finally got to meet.

Take a visit through this past year

December 07 through January 08 Jarren played Jr Jazz Basketball. He did great learning the game and how to dribble the ball. It was fun watching the kids play, because sometimes they did not know they were doing. It was a great experience for him.

Jacob and Joseph are in rolled at The Little Gym. Joseph is in the two top left pictures where he is learning how to do a froward roll on the balance beam and then for cool down he gets to chase bubbles. As you can tell he does not know what to think of the bubbles. Jacob is in the other two pictures where he has gotten his award for completing the semester, which ran from Aug 07 to Jan 08. Jacob is in the terrific tots class where he plays in the gym, has story time, singing time, , and craft time centered around a weekly theme. I look at as a pre-preschool. At The Little Gym they get to develop fine motor skills in a non competitive setting. They also learn confidence and build self esteem. If has been great to watch the two of them grow over time at The Little Gym. Jacob and Joseph are currently finishing up the winter/spring session. Stay tuned for more Little Gym updates.
Every year our wonderful neighbor Lizz sponsors a neighborhood Eater Egg Hunt. She does this so that we do not have to fight the crowds at the city Easter egg hunt. It was fun for the boys to go and find their eggs even though it was a cold Easter morning. Even John had a good time.
On April 1, 2008 Joseph had his first hair cut. He was not sure what to think of the chair and cape. He looked like "Hey mommy help me this does not feel right." But as you can tell he turned out great. Now he looks like a little man rather then a my cute little baby. He is so good at smiling for the camera.
In April uncle Layne bought some smaller dirt bikes just right for the boys. Jacob was the only one willing to take a ride. Jarren was not feeling well at the time. Joseph did sit on the bike for a quick moment. Although Layne steered the bike Jacob had control of the speed and he wanted to go faster and faster!!! I think I have little racer on my hands. Just like is his Dad, who has love of the speed and the track.
Then there is our typical morning around our house where the boys enjoy eating breakfast, make a few messes, and posing for the camera. They keep me busy during the day, but I would not have it any other way.

Time with Grandpa
Here is my 1st attempt at putting video on the blog. This was taken a few months ago. The boys enjoy hanging with grandpa and playing games. I know that my Dad also enjoys spending time with them as well.

Fun in the sun
Yes! Joseph streaks every now and then.
Whee!!! look at me!!Monday May 19th we were at the neighbors house where we played on the slippin slide, kiddie pool, ate cotton candy and watermelon. It was a hot day and the boys sure had a great time playing in the water.
Jarren is not sure what to think of his watermelon.
Jacob smiles for the camera!

My Twilight Review

So overall, I loved this movie. I thought they did a great job making a book to movie. Was everything perfect. no of course not. I broke down my thoughts into what I liked and what I would have changed about the movie.
I loved the opening of the movie with the books preface being said by Bella. I loved that they used a lot of the dialog from the books, it may not have always happened in the right place or moment, but at least they happened. I thought that actors brought to life all the characters from the book. I really like how Nikki Reed portrayed Rosalie. The chemistry between Rob and Kristen as Edward and Bella was awesome! They really made me feel they way I felt about Edward and Bella in the books. There are so many things I loved about this film that it is hard to put them all in order. Two of my favorite moments was the Baseball scene and the end when you see Victoria and her vindictive smile. I also loved the cheesy moments in this movie and there were a few. But they made me laugh.
The things that I wished that were different is a bigger budget to make the movie longer. They put a lot of our favorite moments in the movie, but they were so short making things move along really fast and at times choppy. I would have loved more special effects, even though the ones they had were great, but could have been better. All in all there is not much I would change.
I have since seen the movie twice and loved it event more the second time. The first time was the comparing part along with giggles of excitement. The second time I got to enjoy it for what it is and that it is a great companion to the book. They have made the official announcement that New Moon will begin filming early 2009 and will have a bigger budget. So I can only say that the movies for all four books will get better.
Listed here is a link to Lisa Hansen TwilightMoms Site creator. She has a three part review on the movie that captures my thoughts and feelings and could not have been said any better then she did. Lisa you are awesome!!!!
